Flyer Distribution Do's and Don'ts...
DO: Obey the rules. Distribute flyers during non-work times; e.g. lunch time, break times, before and after your work shift and in non-work areas; e.g. company cafeterias, break rooms, or coffee and refreshment machine areas.
DO: Be polite. Greet every person cheerfully, when you offer them the hand-out.
DON'T:
Force the flyer in anyone's
face, or try to get their attention by raising your voice.
You will know immediately whether a person accepts or rejects the flyer.
Respect their right to refuse the flyer.
DO: Know the material. Be prepared to answer questions about the flyer. Accept any question and make every effort to answer the question. If you don't know the answer; tell the person you will get the answer or who they can contact and where they can get the answer to their question.
DON'T: Block passage areas, such as exits and entrys.
DO: Allow people to see you so they have access to the flyer.
DO: Wear or display the Union logo on a button, shirt, or hat. Also be sure to wear or display your company badge or logo to show you are an active employee with the company as well as a Union supporter.
DO: If you are approached by company authorities, i.e management, security, etc. be sure to show your company identification. Inform them that, under the United States Labor Law as an employee, you have a legal right to distribute union material on company premises.
DON'T:
Argue with Security.
If they tell you to leave the area, do so. Before you leave be sure to get
the Security person's name. Make note of the time, date and the event for
the record.

Alliance@IBM/CWA Local 1701 is an IBM employee organization that
is dedicated to preserving and improving our rights and benefits at IBM.
We also strive towards restoring management's respect for the individual
and the value we bring to the company as employees. Our mission is to make
our voice heard with IBM management, shareholders, government and the media.
While our ultimate goal is collective bargaining rights with IBM, we will
build our union now and challenge IBM on the many issues facing employees
from off-shoring and job security to working conditions and company policy.
