We, IBM Turkey employees, are members of Tez-Koop-Is Trade Union
with 258 persons in number (over 80% of employees).
Our Union applied to the Ministry of Labor on March 26, 2008 to acquire the
right for collective bargaining.
Ministry of Labor verified and approved the information regarding the membership
application
of IBM employees through public notary and notified IBM
on June 11, 2008 .
However, on June 17, 2008 , IBM Management offered a plea based
on invalid grounds and false claims
to delay our right for industrial action.
We complain, condemn and protest against this behavior of IBM Turkey management;
which disregards the demand of the employees in order to prevent our unionization
and delay our right for collective bargaining.
WE CLAIM OUR RIGHTS DECLARED BY:
1) UNITED NATION UNIVERSAL DECLERATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS, ARTICLE 23.
Everyone has the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of
his interests.
2) THE CONSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY: ARTICLE 51.
Employees and employers have the right to form labour unions, employers’
associations and higher organizations,
without obtaining permission, and they also possess the right to become a member
of a union
and to freely withdraw from membership, in order to safeguard and develop their
economic and social rights
and the interests of their members in their labour relations.
No one shall be forced to become a member of a union or to withdraw from membership.
AND WE CLAIM OUR ACQUIRED RIGHTS WHICH ARE RECOGNIZED BY TURKISH LAW.
