- 1st Quarter 2005: $1.41 BILLION

Employees’ Hard Work

- Free barbecues, cake and ice cream!
- Introduction of yet another “system”, this time
called “Lean Manufacturing”!
- BTV site management refuses to address employees’
concerns about pay, benefits and PBCs
at recent all hands “morale” meetings! However, last April they didn’t hesitate to urge employees
to act against Health Care Reform! - Claims by site executives that they can do
nothing about those concerns, while emphasizing
the effect each employee has on corporate earnings! - Maintaining wafer starts while the number of BTV
manufacturing employees
has dwindled from 3,200 to approximately 1,500! - The much-hyped hiring of 150 temps results in 3
people being kept as permanent employees!
- A total failure to recognize that people work at
IBM for pay and benefits to support themselves and their families!
